Southeast Asia is at the forefront of the tourism recovery in Asia Pacific. With easing restrictions, streamlining of travel rules and increased support from the governments the tourism sector is set for a strong recovery in 2022.
By significantly easing or even lifting the restrictions related to travel, countries in the sub-region have reopened their borders to all international short-term visitors, and not only to residents, paving the way for an acceleration of mobility and a rebound in hospitality.
But travel costs are also surging at a time when travel demand is picking up, seeking out greater value for their long-awaited holidays will be a top priority for many travelers. While the pace of recovery could differ across countries the directional uptrend should lead to the sector achieving more than US$100bn in market size by 2027.The positive outlook is likely lead to increase the capital raising activity in the sector.
